Thanet Labour Group Reject Infratil Night Flying Application

Excellent news from Thanet Labour - they've rejected the ridiculous night flying application from Manston owners Infratil at a Labour Group meeting last night.

They cite the "alluded to jobs figures", "quality of life issues for the thousands who would be adversely effected" and the current "section 106 ...needing to be properly enforced and renegotiated".

They also recognise that the airport does provide "opportunity for jobs in the Thanet area but there is much much more day time capacity which could be utilised".

"Concerns were raised about the environmental and health impacts on local residents, particularly sleep deprivation caused by aircraft noise."

Couldn't agree more!

No Night Flights is not a party political group, and will equally cheer from the rooftops when local Conservative Groups and Liberal Democrat Groups come to the same conclusions.

  4. I am neither a geriatric nor from Herne Bay. I work extremely hard at a full-time job. I spend as much of my money as I can in Ramsgate and Thanet. I care about my town, my family, my community. And, to answer another strange comment, I do have a life, thank you. I just want to keep it.

  5. Strange comment according to you but a FACT, something you lot don't seem to deal in. Maybe you should be out sorting the social problems in your respective communities (there's plenty of 'em to get stuck into) instead of peddling falsehoods on here

  6. Isn't it interesting that people who don't support the NO NIGHT FLIGHTS campaign can only spit bile and leave offensive comments. They are bereft of facts or persausive arguments and talk as if they care little for anybody in life.

  7. Neanderthal Man is alive and well, and living in Thanet. Neanderthal Man doesn't understand modern concepts like noise and pollution. He cares only about meat, drink and fighting. Neanderthal Man is responsible for the decline of Thanet because he doesn't care about his environment.

What civilised person (or company) wants to live next door to such a backward creature?

In other areas of the country Neanderthal Man died out millions of years ago. Let's hope he soon becomes extinct in Thanet. Then, we might have a decent chance of attracting good companies to create well-paid jobs.

  9. did anyone posting here attend the Ramsgate Town Council meeting on 25th Oct?

I counted 5 people from herne bay from about 400 attendees. Most were from Ramsgate.

2,500 signatures collected from across East Kent - mostly from Thanet.

800 names on our mailing list all willing and able to assist in anyway they can.

We care about our area. We want it to be successful and a nice place to live. Night Flights will blight the lives of tens of thousands of residents across East Kent. We dont want them.

You can ignore the facts made quite clearly here and listen to the fantasy from the Airport owners if you so wish.

We just ask you to take some time to understand the many complexities and think about the effect night flights will have on health, education, house prices and business, verses the handful of jobs it might create.

    It's not worth it.
